Why should you join?
Kenosha Junior Woman’s Club is a woman’s organization dedicated to community improvement by enhancing the lives of others through volunteer services. Our charitable works include fundraising, community projects, recognition for community service and social events.
Members are encouraged to participate in any programs of interest and our primary fundraising events. Members are encouraged to participate in one of the many facets of these events.
Every active member is required to serve on a minimum of one hostess committee where club members assist in hosting a monthly dinner meeting.
We meet as a club for a general meeting on the fourth Monday of the month from September to May. The December meeting is usually a gathering earlier in the month so as to not conflict with busy holiday schedules. We wrap up with a June dinner, which is often held on the first or second Monday in June. Meetings are not scheduled during the summer months. Some meetings are held at the Woman’s Club Clubhouse at 6028 8th Avenue, Kenosha. Other meetings may be held at local restaurants in conjunction with a club dinner. If members choose they can come after dinner and only participate in the meeting. Dinners begin with a social time at 6:00pm followed by dinner at 6:30. Meetings follow at approximately 7:00pm. For those members who want to become more involved and are elected to serve on the Board, the Board meetings are held on the second Monday of the month and begin at 7:00pm.
To qualify for membership, a member shall pay an initiation fee of $5.00 upon entering plus annual dues of $40.00 for a general membership. These fees are due after initiation or for continuing membership by Nov 1st.
New members are initiated in November and April and dues are prorated accordingly. November enrollees pay $32, plus the $5 start up fee; April enrollees pay $17, plus the $5 start up fee.
National Junior Pledge
I pledge my loyalty to the Junior Club Women by doing better than ever before the work I have to do. By being prompt, honest, and courteous. By living each day trying to accomplish something, not merely to exist.
Club Collect (By Mary Stewart)
Keep us, oh God, from pettiness; let us be large in thought, in word, in deed. Let us be done with fault-finding and leave off self-seeking. May we put away all pretense and meet each other face to face without self-pity and without prejudice. May we never be hasty in judgment and always generous. Let us take time for all things; make us to grow calm, serene, gentle. Teach us to put into action our better impulses, straight forward and unafraid. Grant that we may realize it is the little things that create differences, that in the big things in life we are one. And may we strive to touch and to know the great common human heart of us all; and, oh Lord God, let us not forget to be kind!
