Why Belong?
Kenosha Junior
Woman’s Club is a woman’s organization dedicated to community
improvement by enhancing the lives of others through volunteer
services. Our charitable works include fundraising, community
projects, recognition for community service and social events.
Members are
encouraged to participate in any programs of interest. Every active member is required to serve
on a minimum of two hostess committees where club members assist in
hosting a monthly dinner meeting.
Meetings
We meet as a club
for a general meeting on the fourth Monday of the month from
September to May. The
December meeting is usually a gathering earlier in the month so as
to not conflict with busy holiday schedules. We wrap up with a June
dinner, which often is held on the first or second Monday in June.
Meetings are not scheduled during the summer months.
Some meetings are held at the Woman’s Club Clubhouse at 6028 8th
Avenue, Kenosha. Other meetings may be held at local restaurants in
conjunction with a club dinner. If members choose they can come
after dinner and just participate in the meeting. Dinners begin
with a social time at 6:00pm followed by dinner at 6:30. Meetings
follow at approximately 7:15pm. For those members who want to
become more involved and are elected to serve on the Board, the
Board meetings are held on the second Monday of the month and begin
at 7:00pm.
Dues
To qualify for
membership, a member shall pay an initiation fee of $5.00 upon
entering plus annual dues of $40.00 for a general membership. These
fees are due after initiation or for continuing membership by May 1
proceeding the next club year.
New members are initiated in November and April and dues are prorated
accordingly. November enrollees pay $32, plus the $5 start up fee;
April enrollees pay $17, plus the $5 start up fee.
Mentoring/Buddy Program
The mentor/buddy
program involves the pairing up of a tenured KJWC member with a new
member in an effort to assist newly initiated members with their
transition into the club. Duties include answering any questions,
explaining activities, rules and procedures as well as working with
the new member to become an active member of the club.
National
Junior Pledge
I pledge my loyalty
to the Junior Club Women by doing better than ever before the work I
have to do. By being prompt, honest, and courteous. By living each
day trying to accomplish something, not merely to exist.
Club Collect
Keep us, oh God,
from pettiness; let us be large in thought, in word, in deed.
Let us be done with fault-finding and leave off
self-seeking. May we put away all pretense and meet each other face
to face without self-pity and without prejudice. May we never be
hasty in judgment and always generous. Let us take time for all
things; make us to grow calm, serene, gentle. Teach us to put into
action our better impulses, straight forward and unafraid. Grant
that we may realize it is the little things that create differences,
that in the big things in life we are one. And may we strive to
touch and to know the great common human heart of us all; and, oh
Lord God, let us forget not to be kind!

FAQS
Q: What should I do if I want to
learn more about KJWC?
A: Please feel free to attend one of our meetings.
Please contact our Membership Chair at

to learn when and where our next meeting will be held. We would be
delighted to invite prospective members to a dinner meeting. We
request that you contact us ahead of time so that we can make the
appropriate reservations.
Q: How do I join?
A: Please complete this
membership application form.
Q: How much time commitment does
the club expect?
A: When you become a member, you are essentially agreeing to
participate in as many of our activities as you are able. We have a
diverse list of projects to fit all lifestyles and abilities. You
are also required to serve on at least one of the 10 hostess
committees for our monthly meetings, which is a fun and minimal time
consuming task.
Q: Are there specific requirements
in order to maintain my active membership?
A: As long as your dues are paid, the Club will give every
consideration to your personal situation. Our goal is to welcome as
many women as are interested. We ask that you be involved to the
extent that you can. If it is difficult for you to make meetings,
we ask that you participate in our fundraisers in alternative ways,
such as taking responsibility for selling tickets on your own time.
